At Fever-Tree, it is all about taste, which is why we’ve hunted far and wide to source the very best quality ingredients to go into our award winning range of premium natural mixer drinks. From the quinine and citrus botanicals for our tonic waters, to the fresh gingers for our ginger ale and ginger beer, Fever-Tree’s co-founders Charles Rolls & Tim Warrillow, have travelled to some of the most beautiful, remote (and dangerous) regions of the world to seek out the small specialist producers who provide us with these unique ingredients.

We are thrilled to have an opportunity to showcase some of these ingredients in our Tree House Garden at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show. We hope you will follow the progress of Fever-Tree’s Tree House Garden over the next few months.

The Tree House

A place for children to play while adults sit back and enjoy a G&T close by, an enchanting tree house will be the focal point of the garden. Partly made with reclaimed wood from ‘Cinchona Ledgeriana’ trees (fever trees), whose bark produces the world’s highest quality quinine, a vital ingredient in our tonic waters.

Tim traced and visited one of the last remaining plantations of this rare species of cinchona, found on a small plantation located on the Rwanda-Congo border – an incredibly luscious region but also scarred by years of war, The Cinchona Ledgeriana trees are grown here in a sustainable manner and thus, the plantation is thriving. Proud to be the only drinks company using this high quality quinine, we were keen to incorporate it in our garden. Here are some of the photos Tim took when he was out there:

The Plants

Representing some of the other ingredients that go into our products, the following plants can also be found in our garden:

Citrus – a key ingredient our tonic waters and lemonade, we source our lemons from small groves on the fertile slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily. Using special sfumatrice equipment which squeezes the lemons as if by hand, the finest oils are extracted from the fruit. As a result, our lemonade and lemon tonic have a wonderful refreshing, zesty taste to them.

Gingers – for both our ginger ale and ginger beer, we blend a combination of three unique gingers sourced from small suppliers in the Ivory Coast, Cochin and Nigeria.

Last year, Charles travelled to Africa and India to meet the ginger farmers and took these photos:

Mediterranean plants – our latest product, Mediterranean Tonic Water, has been made by blending essential oils from fruits and herbs that we’ve sourced from around the shores of the Mediterranean. Some of these herbs, such as lemon thyme and rosemary, can be found in the garden.

Spring Water – all of our products are made using natural spring water, so our garden would be incomplete without a small spring!

As well as the ingredient plants listed above, Fever-Tree’s Tree House Garden will also contain other interesting plants. For a full planting list, please click here.
